It's not that the bird flu situation isn't serious, just that it hasn't done anything serious enough to warrant further news coverage at the moment. It was just much ado to get viewer attention in a sweeps period.
After all, just the fact that you blink your eyes every so often deserve news coverage?
But bird flu is a serious situation and needs to be monitored closely in case any of the infected birds do make it to America so they do not start affecting the chickens. That would hurt the poultry and dairy (egg) industries and maybe us if we ate any contaminated products.

Ha!, the bird flu scare, it wasn't even real, that is the last thing we need to worry about since we have a big war already n our hands. Peresonally, the thing was hyped up like all the other things that are on the news, and they were preparing for a big outbreak and look what happened......NOTHING!!!

That's just what it was - a scare. Wag the Dog. What else was going on during that time that needed to be covered up? Why did the whole world go nuts over a disease that's killed less than 1000 people in the past FIFTEEN years?

The hype is over. Certain individuals made their money and accomplished their goal, so now it's time for the news to die out.

Good Q, they indeed haven't been sayin' much... I think they're so skeered that they don't want to be reminded about it Muhahahaha... either that or they're hopping for a cure to solve their worries ;-)

I hope ppl don't die... (and I wish we could help the poor birdies :( ya know ...)

it has gone on too long without any more serious consequences, now the only time you will probably hear about it is when it reaches another country, yesterday i read that Spain has reported it's first confirmed outbreak

People stopped being afraid of it...so the news stopped reporting it. US media panders to fear...no, I'm wrong...it fear mongers.
