I think it has definatly changed the image of skateboarding. I think that it is kind of a bittersweet situation in some ways it has hurt the sport and in some ways i think that it has helped the sport progress. When you say "hurt skating" what do you mean by hurt.

I really don't think so. If anything, it's helped it greatly, by parents approving of their kids skating (and seeing that they're safely outfitted for it), and fostering the political will to build new skateparks in many communities.

i think it helped. i mean, if it wasn't for Tony Hawk, people would still get the image that ALL skaters are bad people when the truth is, more than half the skaters out there aren't crack sniffing useless punks, but some still are, but they usually suck.
