Melatonin is a good option. I've struggled to get good sleep for a long time. I use melatonin regularly, and it is helpful. Melatonin and serotonin, what doctors believe is necessary for mental balance, are on the same circuit in the nervous system. Be sure you have enough melatonin, which is necessary for sleep, and depression won't get you.

I have suffered with sleep problems for years now. First off, if you're regularly taking Tylenol PM, you might want to reconsider. I did that for a couple of months, and my liver function became elevated. There was a recent article about Tylenol at CNN.com. If you want to take something over-the-counter, try Benadryl.

One thing that helps me is white noise of some sort, like a fan. It drowns out other noises. I also try to keep the room at a comfortable temperature.

Good luck!

Try working out in the morning or afternoon instead. Exercise is invigorating. Also, one thing that all of my girlfriends agree on is that if you get ready for bed, get into the bed, and then give yourself a big "O," you will fall right to sleep.

Have you tried Melatonin? I can't sleep without it.

My doctor recommended it instead of sleeping pills because Melatonin is natural and non-addictive.

Melatonin can be purchased at any drug store, nutrition store, or department store. It's not expensive either!

Good Luck!

Talk to your doctor and tell him to prescribe you a sleeping pill.
