its not a myth. its a scientific theory to explain why there is so much variation. Perhaps it can be disproved, but that doesnt make it a myth. its a THEORY.

According to the theory of evolution, at some time in the distant past there was no life in the universe -- just elements and chemical compounds. Somehow, these chemicals had to combine to form Frankencell, which came to life somehow. (Presumably, a lightning bolt and a deformed assistant were involved.)
Under normal circumstances, creatures give birth to the same kind of creatures. One does not expect a lizard to hatch from a chicken egg. Chickens have baby chickens. It is established scientific fact that like begets like.
On rare instances, the DNA in an embryo is damaged, resulting in a mutant child that differs in some respect from its parent. Only a few mutations have been scientifically observed that are arguably beneficial. It is well known that mutations produce inferior offspring. For the theory of evolution to be true, there must be a fantastic number of creative mutations that produce new kinds of offspring which are better suited for survival, and therefore are favored by natural selection.
The theory of evolution is not believed because of scientific evidence. It is believed DESPITE scientific evidence.
Science is against the theory of evolution, dont u thnk so??
To add, There are only two documented cases of inanimate objects coming to life.
Pinocchio
Frosty the Snowman
Most scientists consider these two reports to be false.

Everything in science is called a theory because at any moment, there maybe another perception that better describes the phenomenon in question. Sir Iasaac Newton gave us classical mechanics, but just because Einstein's relativity described reality better doesn't mean Newton was wrong.
Evolution is probably the most widely accepted theory in the scientific community today. Right now, in your own body, evolution is occuring on a small scale everyday as your body disposes of waste cells and generate new ones... they are not 100% identical to the one's they replace.
Evolution describes why all of the living things on earth share 97.9% of the same DNA, why some species are so similar to others and it also explains new species and extinctions... If something else comes along and does a better job of that, it certainly won't come from a 2000 year old book written by people who had no idea of the world they lived in. Nope... no big booming voice from the sky is going to convince me.

In all my years I have not witnessed any scientific evidence to support evolution.. I have seen many instances which disprove it..The most impressive one being some fish that was extinct many million years ago.. was caught off the coast of Africa some years back... exactly like that extinct fossil. There are others but this will give some a clue, to how things don't really change. It is an assumption that adaptation actually takes place. As someone stated earlier, if we were to have advanced from apes, why does it not continue to occur?

Evolution can be divided into two parts, macro and micro. Micro evolution is a fact, where as macro evolution remains a theory due to debates on the exact steps of the evolutionary process. EVOLUTION DID HAPPEN we simply can’t trace the exact evolutionary steps of the of the 3 trillion plus species on earth. Considering there is no way that we can even prove if we have located all the species on earth, this may always remain a theory. We can prove though, beyond a doubt, that humans have evolved. We can trace it back conclusively 3.6 million years. 97% of all scientists accept evolution (so does the Catholic Church). Evolution does not state that humans evolved from monkeys, that idea is completely absurd. Science states that monkeys and humans evolved from a shared forefather and are hence relatives, (all primates are) but we are in no way direct descendants of them.

Many people don't understand what evolution is. For example, monkeys don't turn into people in a lifetime. What happens, however, is a creature's descendant is slightly different than his parents. If that descendant survives to create another of his own, then a that specific difference is magnified.
An example is the elephant. Elephants are evolving their tusks away in countries where poaching for ivory is practiced. What does this mean? All the elephants who have larger tusks are being killed, and the elephants who have small tusks are left alone. What happens is those elephants who have small tusks mate, and may and is likely to result into the birth of an elephant with a small tusk too, thus also will be left alone. Eventually, no more elephants with large tusks remain ("become extinct") and elephants with no tusks now roam such areas ("have evolved").
How can this be called a myth?

Evolution is not myth. It is a scientific theory. In science theory does not mean someone just thought they would let everyone in on their own personal opinion, it means that evidence exists (a lot of evidence) that shows that evolution is almost certainly what happened. Chances are that some aspects of evolution may have to be revised as scientific knowledge expands but the general idea has enough evidence to support it.

its not myth, its a theory, the highest elevation of an idea that science can give. but look at the genetic similarities between all living things. we have 99.9% the same genetics as all other humans. we have 99.7% the same as chimps, 50% the same as bananas. every last scrap of viable evidence points to the fact that we have a common ancestor with every living being, not that man evolved directly from apes, but that man and ape had a common ancestor, and before that, man and grasshoppers and before that man and bananas. it is exactly based on evidence and therefore should be taught in a biology class, as opposed to the creation story, which is based simply on the Bible, which has never been shown to be the word of god except in its own text. creation should be put into the mythology category, because there is not one scrap of scientific evidence to say that the world and everything on it was created in 6 days.

I can already see from the way you worded your "question" that it's indeed a rant and a lecture, not a question. But if you are willing to step off the soapbox, I recommend the short essays on Evolution made by a prominent YA user, NeuroProf.
It makes interesting reading; and at the very least it makes clear what the Theory of Evolution is about, and debunks the false antagonism between religion and evolution.

Most science is nothing more than a best guess at the time. Less than 75 years ago, it was still thought a perfectly viable option to shove an ice pick into a patient’s eye socket, to the brain, to “fix” various mental problems.
Evolution is the best guess we have at the moment, over a religious answer; which also can not be proven. I assume, based on your question that you would prefer a biblical (Judeo-Christian) answer.
However, due to the fact that this country (America) was founded by people fleeing religious intolerance, we have separation of church and state in public schools. Teaching Judeo-Christian beliefs in schools would not only be unfair to those of different faiths, but down right silly. It would be like forcing my Catholic friends to learn all the beliefs of some of my Pagan friends; forcing them to integrate those beliefs into their religious dogma.

How is it a myth? Of course you cannot view it. You must be a million to see evolution happening. Quite fascinating, so why is it not based on facts? You must be pretty kaput. Have you seen DNA and fossil evidence? How about breeding animals and plants? Why, You, You are evolution. Your father, and mother made you through reproduction. You are the product of evolution. The DNA of You comes from the river of genes that has flowed since the beginging of time. Your DNA has survived billions of years of evolution in so many different organisms and finaly in You. And You will pass on the DNA to Your descendents and Your descendents will pass them on to their descendents and so on until they become extinct. Your DNA may even evolve into a different organism or different organisms. Imagine that.
