Oh enjoy your first readthrough!!!

I love Anne and have read that series more times than I can count. Most of L.M. Montgomery's books are very good. I also enjoyed the "Emily of New Moon" series very much.

If I can make a suggestion, try reading the "Anne" series in the order they were written. The modern publishers put them in order of Anne's life, but "Anne of Windy Poplars" and "Anne of Ingleside" were written years after the others - long after L.M. Montgomery had lost interest with the series. Her publisher demanded more "Anne" books, so she cobbled together a number of her old short stories and weaved them together using the "Anne" characters. The series flows much better if you read them in the order they were originally written:

Anne of Green Gables
Anne of Avonlea
Anne of the Island
Anne's House of Dreams
Rainbow Valley
Rilla of Ingleside
Anne of Windy Poplars
Anne of Ingleside

I am a big fan of Anne, and have read all the series. The last one, Rilla of Ingleside, is excellent from a literary point of view as an account of life in Canada during WWI. The entire series is excellent. L.M. montgomery has written many novels, so if you enjoy the Anne series, I suggest you hunt down the rest of her books, you'll like them also.

She was a young girl who lived on Prince Edward Island in Lower Canada in the mid 1800's.

PEI is now the smallest Provence in Canada.

I have never read the books so I can't tell you anything about them
