They say it is an STD. Condoms are not always a prevention. There are 80 types of HPV, 4 are considered to help cause Cancer. Recent tests have shown 50% of college students have one form of HPV or another. There are tests that show if you have an HPV infection. All cases are not visible and only a small percentage of females who have even the deadliest form pf HPV get cancer from it. There is a new HPV vaccination that was approved a few months ago. It is probably a good idea for todays young people to get that vaccination.

Yes, HPV is an STD and is the cause of cervical cancer. There's a big push to get girls vaccinated at an age where most haven't had sex yet, to prevent them from ever having to worry about this STD. Yes, 12 seems young to get vaccinated for an STD, but would you rather wait til they're 14 or 15 and a significant percentage have already started having sex (often without a lot of planning!) or have been raped (15 is statistically the most common age for date rape to happen, which means for some girls it happens younger!) I worked in child protection. I had to get a SIX year old tested for STD's thanks to a molesting relative. I'm all for making sure that rape victims of any age never have to worry about getting a cancer sentence simply because they were a victim already.

Through skin-to-skin contact, usually in the genital area, though sometimes it can be transmitted orally because someone had contracted it through oral sex. A condom does not offer much protection against HPV, so more than half of all sexually active people will contract HPV in their lifetime. (Though most of the time there are no symproms, and the virus usually does not cause much harm. However, since it does have the potential to cause cervical cancer, it can be very dangerous.)

According to widespread reading it spreads by way of the live worm virus that it is. Aggrevating factors: eating flesh foods, burned foods, mostly cooked foods, unhappiness and unforgiveness and a mind that blames and get depressed a lot, far and away too much smoke, sex with an uncircumsized man much, and the list goes on and on. I'll mention only 2 books cause and cure for all cancers and cause and cure for all diseases.. books available in health food stores.

~~BEWARE OF THOSE TELLING YOU CONDOMS ARE SAFE... HPV is a sexually transmitted disease that the cells are so small that even using a condom the virus can pass on to the other person, as ALL condoms have microscopic holes in them and those holes are larger than the virus cells... that is why condom companies do not advertise that it is safe sex... only safer sex, because there is a lesser chance of getting the virus but there is still a chance... the HIV virus also is small enough to pass through those holes in the condoms.~~

Uh--- it is a sexually transmitted disease. It is spread the same way all the other STDs are spread. Unprotected sex would be my first guess. In case you didn't know it, venereal warts are also caused by HPV.

It is spread sexually by skin-to-skin contact with an infected person. It's a form of warts, they are genital warts.
It is spread by sexual or skin-to-skin contact with the infected person. If you want to prevent it-stay away from contact with those who are infected, abstain from sex, use latex condoms/latex barriers to avoid skin contact.
Practice mutual monogamy with an uninfected partner.
