NO thats not fair to children its not their choice to make really its whoever can give them a better life and if both parents can then its up to the judge,,, There are too many divorces today in the world because no one believes in the sanctity of marriage anymore... well not no one but few people.

People get divorced so often today because:
1. They only wanted to have a party, wear a big white dress and feel like a princess! They didn't realize that after they had to build a life with someone
2. Everyone else was getting married, so they thought they had to, too
3. They didn't know that marriage is hard work, and they are lazy
4. They were tricked by someone who was a great liar/actor(ess) and ended up with a bum, cheater, abuser, jack*ss, perv, molester, criminal, con person, combination of all, etc and wised up
5. They were young or in a different time in life and things changed/grew and the relationship didn't
6. They were gay and didn't want to admit it/live that lifestyle and couldn't stick to being what they weren't-straight
7. They are immature and selfish and refuse to compromise, like most 3-year-olds
I think kids should get to pick their home. If put in a difficult position, they should talk to their parents and try to go for joint custody or talked to the judge and ask them to decide.

Divorce sucks and it is an everyday thing now.
I am getting a divorce because I didn't go out and get a job making $30,000. I decided to wait half a month more so I could get a job making $90,000. Oh yeah. And also because I don't clean the house good enough and I don't dust. I do cook.
I don't drink. I never cheated.
My wife and I also had a child last August and my wife left our marriage in March with our son that was 7 months old at the time.
You tell me WTF?
So, on that note. Yes, Divorce is an everday thing.

I think it depends on age and maturity of the kids. As a kid who went through a tough divorce, I was asked at the age of 12 to decide where I wanted to live. 12 was far too young for that responsibility. Then at age 16 I got the choice again. This time I was much more responsible and able to make the decision without so much damaging fear and uncertainty.

I haven't been through a divorce...but I think it's because we live in a time where divorcing isn't such taboo, similar to homosexuality. Back in the 40's and 50's it was talked down upon, but now, like you said it's and everyday thing.

No, having a child make an adult decision is irresponsible. You have a divorce and children and therefor you know at least one party is a self centered jerk (otherwise their would be no divorce). The responsible party should raise the children because they will be the better role model. If both parties are selfish, then it doesn't really matter, the poor kids are just hosed.

tv has made divorce ok. the judge usuall will ward the kids to the parent who he thinks is more right for the kids. but if you get the kids make sure if the other parents get quailty time with the kids. they still need both parents. in ca the kids have to be 12yrs before they can decied where they are going to live. but they will usually go with the parents that are the easyist on the rules. so make sure that you and your x spouse talk and try to raise with the same ruls. that will be the best for the kids.

It's too easy to get one and bail out of the vows.
There are reasons to get a divorce (unfaithfuness and affair/adultery) but other reasons are always used and, most are selfish based.
Christie Brinkley and Billy Joel's reason for divorce:
not enough sex.
Go figure.

people get divorced because they marry for the wrong reasons. i think it's mostly because people have children before marriage and feel obligated to get married because they have a child together. it's not fair to the children at all period.

i personally went through a mediator because it's easier to have an outside person decide they can view both sides. no i don't think it's fair to make them choose.
