recent stuff may be over rated but original and even some Van Hagar was just great. Eddie Van Halen should be considered one of the top 5 (rock) guitarists of all time.

The origional Van Halen stuff was best, in many people's (including my) oppinions. That wasn't really overrated at all. Though they were never really the best band out there after that, and there were in fact bands with far more talent than them, for the most part they weren't nessasarily "overrated". The guitar solos are classic. you can't deny that. Practically trademark. However, as a whole? somewhat overrated, perhaps. But not totally overrated. The origional line up was great. Van Halen was a good band. I like them alot. But not as much as many out there. Of course, whether they are overrated, that also depends on who you talk to.

The original Van Halen with David Lee Roth is not overrated. The abomination with Sammy Hagar ("Van Hagar") is very overrated.

Somewhat. Personally, I prefer them with Hagar and one of my absolute all-time favorite tunes is "Finish What Ya Started" but I'm really more about the '60s anyway.

thank you! They def are. People just use their name to throw around so people think they are rockers it sucks but it works. Theyre are crappy!
