The concept of time travel leads to complex philosophical dilemnas and paradoxes. For example, if you were able to travel back in time and prevent your parents from meeting, you would not exist, would you? Also, consider the fact that you invented a time machine, and went back in time to a younger version of yourself and gave your younger self the secret of building one, where would the information come from? This is called the information paradox. There are many such paradoxes that seem to suggest that time travel is not a possibility. One can also debate that the existence of time machines in the future is not possible as we have not yet been swarmed by time travelers from the future. However, some scientists have proposed that there is a way around these paradoxes, if one assumes that every time one goes back in time, one goes to a parallel universe. In the first example I cited, the time traveler can prevent his parents from meeting in the past, however this can only happen in a parallel reality where he does not exist.
A good book to read more about this is Michio Kaku's Parallel Worlds.

I know what a black hole is but a "white hole" is new to me. As to time travel itself, well, that poses some very interesting questions. For example, suppose you travel into the past and do something that changes the past in such a way that a trail of event unfolds such that you cannot be born. To put it in specific terms, suppose you accidentally killed the butterfly that was supposed to pollinate the plant out of which your grand-grand-grand-grand father was to use to avoid starving to death. Then you would never be born. But then you would not be able to travel into the past and kill the butterfly. As you can see by this example, this in not simply a question of wether the laws of the universe (physics) allow the possibility of traveling into the past but also on fundamental philosophical principles.
All of the above being said, still, the prospect of travelling into the past is fascinating! To see the parting of the Red Sea by Moses, seeing a Tyronosaurus Rex charging, to be able to see the face of Helen of Troy (was she so incredibly beautiful?), was Cleopatra so sexy?, did Jesus actually bring Lazarus back to life? The list is endless! I suspect we will never know!

Time travel is not possible.
Are you talking about traveling through a black hole? That is also not possible. A black hole is an unbelievably dense mass, not a doorway.

Well if we discover time travel in the future then logic says we should have all sorts of time travelers coming back from the future. That hasn't happened so we have to assume that time travel is impossible.

well, to me it is not practical enough to have time travel in the near future.
but, if we do, then things mihgt go a little bit of absurd, as people can predict what would happan to them in 10 or 20 years from now. some might lose hope for life as they find a pessimistic future, others might be overjoyed at the rosy future, which is not always a promise.

Time travel will never happen or else we would be flooded with tourists from the past, there is something like this I remember Stephen Hawking said.

time travel would be bad, I think existance would cease to exist, butterfly effect 8) and if it had been invented which it wont we would already know about it because im sure we would have been visited from the future to fix problems already so chances are its impossible
