I know the world will always want another love song, thank you Paul McCartney, however I believe this to be true because love feels good and aids in pro-creation. Rapping about the same "ghetto-life" with little to no originality introduced into the lyrics of a "new" song seems, to me, to only perpetuate the absurdity that becomes the ground-hog's day that is RAP music. It's like making Art for Art sake, RAP for RAP's sake...can it sustain?

Rap will probably evolve into other genres in the future. I have to agree that it is getting repetitive. I used to know every rap song that came on the radio up until about maybe 2003 and then just got sick of the same old stuff coming out. There are very few rappers who claim to be 'hood' or are 'old school' who have a new sound. Someone is bound to come by and revolutionize rap sooner or later. This is when I will listen to it again, until then I'll be listening to other music.

RAP WILL FOREVER BE AROUND BECAUSE IT'S A FORM OF MUSIC AND A LOT OF PEOPLE LIKE IT AS MUCH AS U LIKE UR TYPE OF MUSIC SO I LUV IT AND IDC WHAT ANYONE ELSE SAYS SO THERE

and plus there are rap songs with messages not many but there are some out there it just depends on the rap artist that is singing it. Whether or not they care about the beat or the message they are sending.Rap music is about "ghetto life" but some of those rap songs are about the hardships and the memorys they had living in that type of lifestyle so you should really try to listen to some of the lyrics
But a lot of rap artist talk about crap and nonsense too.

although it seems as if rap is saying the same ting over and over again, and they are. That because it sells.

Being a fan of all music, rap included, I have had the privilage of hearing a great deal of un-signed, underground, un heard of acts. These artists, rappers, are often speaking about things you do and will NOT hear on the radio, this is because it is not marketable right now.

This "regurgitation" that you speak of is not the rappers lack of tallent or the whole rap comunity lack of originalty; but rather, the big money corporations snatching up all the acts that have "that sound".

As soon as this "sound" producers profit from becomes unproffitable, they will find another act. and once that act is found and marketed, the masses will soon fallow, imitate, and regurgitate once again

In my opinion, the gangsta rap style has its place, and it is unfortunate that it gets overly done by so many. There are a few forces in "Hip Hop" that bring new inspiration and thought provoking lyrics to the industry. Gangsta rap is going to remain in the industry because there is going to be an audience for it. Don't like it all the time, but it has it's moment.

Opinion: I like the production more than the lyrics in most cases. Some songs are just great production wise, but the lyrics just don't make the cut. To much violence and not enough of everything else (upliftment, education, fun, love, etc.)
If you need something different, pickup Common, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Tribe Called Quest, etc. Were not all trying to get laid, maybe we want to learn something.

it depends not all music is about thug life and they all do not have the same scenrios, i mean not all rap and, so i think those that what u consider constantly talkin about thug life will always be popular to those ppl living the thug life and living those scenrios and for the rest of the ppl who aren't it will still be popular thx to ppl like kanye west and common and talib and many many more, because their music is so different then the typical rap thats y rap will always b popular

simple music for simple minds.... if you were to make it more meaningful and complex the "ghetto life thugs" would not understand it thus not listen to it.
