Before you get it for the first time you may have some spotting (light bleeding throughout the month). I suggest you get some pantyliners if you've been experiencing that, as you don't know how long it'll last or when it'll become the real thing. It's all the warning I really had before my first period. I didn't start experiencing PMS until I was about 15 or 16. Now though, I get cramps, sensitive breasts, and become a grand ***** a few days before my period. Hope this helps some.

For the first time I"m assuming. I honestly don't remember, but I bet your doctor could help you out on this one. I know that every month I get a bit emotional and can't sleep well before I start and the first night I don't sleep much at all...but my body is tired..my head isn't. If that makes any sense at all. I am just one person though, again, I suggest talking to your doctor about this.

mood swings, cramps, food cravings, sore breasts, acne...
although, when I had my very first period, i didn't get any of the warning signs. I spent the night at a friends house and woke up the next morning. I went to the bathroom and what do you know? I was a woman.

when i first got my period in my early teens, i used to feel abnormally cold, as if the air conditioning was on too high (it was in the middle of a 100 degree summer) and shivered. sometimes my breasts would feel sore (like i'd been hit in the chest) the day before due to hormone buildup. lower back pain, a dull and heavy feeling in your abdomen, and random mood changes may also happen to you.

Everyone is different, but most girls/women get discomfort in the abdomen, nausea, spotting, craving certain foods, hormones go sky high (if you know what I mean), heavy discharge, etc.
