Anyone who says Hendrix is overrated is an idiot, the guy could play with either hand and with the guitar upside down, and all along the watchtower was like the best song ever!

There is no one like Jimi Hendrix, one of a kind. It is amazing that in his short life he only made 3 albums with The Experience and one with Band of Gypsies. This in a span from 1967 to 1970.
When Eric Clapton and Pete Townshend saw him in a club in England before he recorded his first album, they were crestfallen. Eric told Pete, "That's it, we are out of business".
Amazingly there are about 70 albums released of his tracks in various forms. For a great insight there is a DVD available called "Electric Ladyland" Classic Albums. It is available on Amazon.com

I'm sure there are some Clapton fans who would disagree, but they are mostly fat,old people. I have never seen or heard anyone who can do to a guitar what Hendrix did. The post-humous blues album that was put out shows his versatility and roots.

To Birdlady90.

That was the Rainbow Bridge Vibratory Color Sound Experiment.

It was a film by director Chcuk Wein. It was his idea that you be grouped by sign. Jimi really didnt care and was'nt as stoned as you think.

He put on the concert because they begged him to so that the movie would actually make money...

But to be fair to you. I wish I could have been there in your shoes...To witness that concert on Haleakala must have been...an Experience!

A bit overrated...but he was one of the first to come along to blow everyone away. I saw Mr. Hendrix once when I was living on Maui...he put on a free concert, and all us spaced out hippies gathered around him and he was very stoned...he was very small in stature. He had us all grouped according to our different astrological signs. Unfortunately I don't remember alot more than that....there was music, tho...and it was all free!

He is pretty good. He has his own style. You can tell its a Hendrix song when it comes on the radio off the bat.
