ok, my mom works as a paramedic, and my sister is sick. she is 6. my mom is at work all night, and also feels sick, but her boss wont let her leave work unless someone pickes up her shift. her boss can pick of the shift, but she doesnt want to. is this fair? i think it is mean :O

"mean" doesn't factor in at a job. Your mother is a paramedic and if she isn't on duty someone might die. Would that be fair?

It's not only mean, it's against the law. Her boss is violating several rules of the FLSA. It's not your moms fault or responsibility to cover her shift at work if she or a family member requiring her care is ill. That's what managers are for. Parmedics are in high demand. I'd go to another employer where the working conditions are not so hostile. Andy

no if she is sick she can pass that to others while she is working as a paramedic that is not right she might want to check with other higher powers than her boss and if that doesnt work report them to the bar association.

Having a boss that tells your mom what's up and that she was scheduled and has to be there is part of havign a job. Sorry but I"m thinking this isn't the answer you want.
