If you don't know a thing about poker, I would recommend "Play Poker Like the Pros" by Phil Hellmuth. Honestly, his strategy won't last you long, but its a simple way to get into the game.

Next I would recommend "Winning Low Limit Hold'em" by Lee Jones. One of the best books ever.

Of course, if you're looking to learn how to play No Limit Texas Hold'em tournaments like on TV, I would recommend "Kill Phil" by Blair Rodman and Lee Nelson. Not the best book but awesoem for beginners.

First, find a free poker site.

Next, learn which card combinations will make you a winner (i.e. Royal flush, straight flush, pairs, etc.)

Then, spend some time at the play money tables to learn the pace of the game. It will take a few days, but you'll get it.

Last, enter a freeroll (playmoney) tournament. Fighting for your life to get to the end will teach you more about poker than anything.

Good luck!
