Danville, Virginia: a close-knit community, warm and hospitable people.
I'd like to go back to Maryland Deep Creek lake. The scenery is breathtaking!

Favorite city: Chicago. It's a big, boisterous urban area that's more accessible and less intimidating than New York City. The culture is great, the place is a gritty blue collar town that's proud of it, some great music comes out of there, and sitting on Lake Michigan it can almost have that beachfront feel. The politics may be dysfunctional, It is simply one of the world's great cities.
Favorite state: California. I grew up there and love the weather, the people, and the cosmopolitan atmosphere. Again, the politics and government are dysfunctional, but it's simply an incredible place to be despite that.

Raleigh, NC
It's where I live and it's close to the beach, several cool sites, and the people are incredibly nice--plus the food rocks!
Salt Lake City, UT
I grew up just outside SLC and lived there for most of my life. It's also a central spot to a lot of cool places---Park City, Arches Park, etc. Plus, the town is clean and the people are also very nice. The terrain is so varied that you can literally ski and go off roading in the same day.
Las Vegas, NV
I love to visit Las Vegas despite the fact I'm not a gambler. The sites are awesome and there's just such an energy to the town.
Washington, DC
I don't think I could ever get bored in DC. There are so many awesome historical sites and the experience of visiting the Holocaust Museum can not be described in words.

Theres the r&r hall of fame with all kinds of historical things and shows to see, the theaters which have some great things playing all the time, the bars clubs and rest are great for the most part and it's by the lake too....

Northern California for the lovely and lively City By The Bay, San Francisco. For my northern mountain home , lts lakes, waterfalls and volcanos. Then on to beautiful Oregon, and up the Pacific coast to Washington and the ever entrancing city of Seattle.

Being the mountain girl that I am, I love Oregon, especially Bend which is in the Cascade mountains. The climate there is dry and in the high desert. My home state of Oregon is pristine with beautiful conifers, lakes and streams. Washington state is similar to Oregon and if you like the metro areas, Seattle offers travelers plenty to stay busy!

Madison, WI
Austin, TX
Lived in Madison and have visited Austin. Both had great bars, lots to do, smallish cities with lots of opportunities and great people.
Plus, in Madison, you can get a Scrambler for breakfast at Mickie's Dairy Bar before a Saturday Badger home game at Camp Randall. The perfect base for drinking all day on.

I will garner nothing for this...however I know my places of comfort.
Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Warwick Rhode Island, Upstate N.Y. and parts of Georgia ...OH! I forgot Hawaii...I am from there.
Waimea Bay, Kaneohe, Lanikai, and the Pali Way! Manoa Valley mist is like butter dripping down the mountains in the misty dawn in Manoa....but every sunrise in Hawaii is a lifetime's worth of beauty......the rest are incredibly serene....inverted chaos, simply wonderful!

Lived in New York most of my life and never found "culture".
Instead found a never ending rat race.
Drug dealers between midnight and 3 A.M.
Hookers between 3:00 and 4:00
Sidewalk vendors between 4:00 and 5:00
Garbage collectors between 5:00 and 6:00
The city never sleeps.
Give me any place off the coast of Italy.
