Some can! although certain scientists disagree about the definition of language, in truth it doesnt matter because a look is worth a thousand words and all animals are very good at body language which humans can learn to understand through careful first hand observation. Also animals are smart enough to be able to learn the meaning of some of our spoken language and all of our body language, which makes communication easier on our part. The reason why the majority of people cant understand animals is because they fail to pay attention and learn what the animal is saying to them.. For example my friend had a dog and he would come up to her while we were sitting in the living room and nudge her etc and she would always say what the hell leave me alone what do you want etc and I who could clearly see what it was he was asking would calmly say He wants outside or he is hungry etc and I was never wrong, she couldnt understand how I knew and but it was only because I payed attention to him and had learned what actions he would do in order to communicate his needs. I can tell you honestly that just from watching my 2 dogs and all the other dogs I have lived with over the years I have learned how to say some things in dog body language and I use it to help teach my dogs the meaning of our spoken language it works awesome. For example....to make my dog lay down when he doesnt want to when I say down I reinforce the verbal command by assuming a stiff-legged dominant posture head up staring directly at the dog out of the corner of your eyes and it works every time it is the same way that a more dominant dog makes a lesser dog submit and every dog understands the meaning. So most people can understand animals if they want to but dont take the time to learn from them!!

Animals talk in a different language than humans. It is like if I spoke German and if you didn't understand German than I would be talking in a different language. It depends on the animal but some people can actually tell what the animals said on the way they spoke whether it was meowed or barked or whatever.

they ( the people) don't take the time to really study their pets. In my job I have to read every animal that I have to handle. My job depends on it .I can't work if I get bit. Also I feel that by understanding the pet I'm working with I can calm them down if they are scared or want to eat me alive. Its just about body language and paying attention

People can. I truly believe that I understand a ton of what my dogs are trying to tell me. You can pick up on their body language and facial expressions after a while

Animals have a secret language because there are lots of things they don't want us to know.

They have their own way of speaking to us. Don't you think it would be kind of weird of all of our pets just starting having conversations? Thats just how God made us, and maybe its the best. Our animals can speak to us, you just have to listen a little more closely.
