We have been beyond the tipping point for a long time. It is happening all around us.

Why would it be? Its economic situation is not the best ever, but with the DJIA the highest that it has been for several years, it's not doing poorly either. Politically, many of its citizens feel the country is heading in the wrong direction; if they do, they can simply vote some other guy into office in 2008. That's the beauty of democracy. Militarily, it still has the most powerful military in the world. There are social tensions, but they've been much worse (1960s) and the country survived. Absent some sort of Act of God or Force Majeure causing a huge crisis (would have to be bigger than Katrina; the country got through that already), there doesn't seem to be anything that would cause such collapse.

Yes yes yes! It has been at a tipping point for a very long time. Our country has an incredible education system but all the lazy people that live here take it for granted..hence we are stupid. The asians come and embrace the educational system hence they will be taking over in less than 20 years. Our goverment has gotten so mixed up that we are on the verge of a revolution etc etc these area few things. But yes we are...our people are just in denial. Nobody can stop it either because we are all afraid of offending him or her or their mother and we are afriad of what people will think. We have all become liberal peace softies. Look ast the world peace is non exsistant you need to be a little hard because thats rational. Rationality isnt necessarily what we want but learn to deal with it. GOOD MORNING AMERICA YOUR GONNA GET FLUSHED

History says the American Empire will collapse. The average life span of an Empire is 200 years. Pet Buchanan has warned us the Empire is collapsing in "A republic not an Empire" (throw that in there for all you Republicans who are going to say I'm some kind of anti-patriot or some crap and for the true Republican idiots who don't know who he is, he is a republican columnist who worked for the Nixon and Reagan administration). In short China will over take the US barring a complete social uphevial there.

Yes and we have been for quite some time. We were headed in that direction long before President Bush took office. He just helped it along and at a quicker pace. We will become a 3RD WORLD COUNTRY sooner than yo think.Wall street is trying to hold its own. Every state, every city are in dire straights. the price of everything is rising steadily. We are not alone because there are other countries in the same boat as we. Now the elite want us to lose everything just as the people in 3RD world countries did. My fellow Americans this is the New World Order of which there is no escape. The New World Order is in fact the Old World Order. Study your history...............................

Yep.

It's actually been collapsing for a long time, for decades actually. American society, government, economy, is all going down the drain, and people are in denial over it.

No, its past that stage already and going down the hill.
Though its still possible to hit the breaks it would be necessary to also take a turn to go uphill again...and taking turns is the last thing ppl would want to happen.

Hell no. There have always been people that think that. The US will never go to hell. I think the reason is because we have a wide, even range of classes: rich, poor, middle class. Economy wise, anyways.

I will say that we may never be the super power of economy but we will be the super power of POWER.

Declining, maybe, but I doubt it will collapse, barring extreme circumstances.
