They spend a lot of time in Hot Topic, they whine excessively, wallow in self pity, and listen to bands such as -The Used, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance, etc.-
Also, I assume you mean commercial goth. If you knew what real goth was (techno music, makeup) you would never even put them in the same league as whiny prepubescent emo kids who put their balls in a vice when they sing. Listen to Skinny Puppy (goth) and then The Used (EmoShit). No comparison. But among the 12 year old crowd, the line is blurry.

I think stereotyping people is wrong. Especially because of the way they look. I hate labels. Just because someone likes certain things, listens to certain music, or dresses a certain way doesn't mean you have to label them. Just be yourself. Don't worry whether people think your goth or punk or emo, etc. And don't try to label others that way. like what you want to, and don't place people into groups. Life's alot less complicated if you don't try and label everyone. Believe me...So, rock on, peace out and do whatever you do that makes you unique. Just stop causing more problems by trying to label others.

Heavy,black eyeliner,mascara,black stuff like black fingernail polish,black clothing(band shirt, baggy pants,chains around pants, tight black pants),piercings on places other than ears, has a taste for heavy metal,punk or some hardcore form of rock music- Atreyu,MyChemicalRomance,From First to Last,etc.

emo is short for emotional so that's one...goths dress in all black and have lots of dark feelings
