I noticed a red dot at the 6" marking on a tape measure and was told to find out what it means by my boss. What is this marking for?

The red dot I'm questioning is at the 6-1/2" mark on the tape measure. What is this for?

This link cover just about all the marking on a tape. Doesn't seem to be a red dot at 6". Hopefully he is not sending you after a sky hook. Hope it helps.

I just checked 5 different tape measures and none of them had that mark..

Perhaps it's a Hindu tape measure.
