racism is bad. I dont think we will ever be able to change until people stop looking at color and start looking at the person. I could care less if you are black white brown yellow purple or green. ( I know there r not really people that r some of those colors, just making a point.)
racism will end when people like the KKK and other groups grow up.
Not knowing = fear = racism

Children are usually taught racism in their homes. If racist adults would keep the wrongful racist attitudes that were taught to them by adults to themselves rather than pass it on to their children, eventually racism would decrease as generations go by. Children should be taught not to see color, but to see individuals and like or dislike a person based on their character. These teachings begin at a very early age in the home. Parents are the first teachers. If children are taught to ignore racist remarks from everywhere and give good sound reasons why, then racism will eventually be eradicated. Everyone must learn that people are people no matter what their skin color and there are all kinds of people who belong to all races.

We cannot change with what someone has been taught. WE can try and shape adults. We need to have mandatory racism classes right from the get go. People need to be held accountable for the shunning & stereotypes they hold as well as their inappropriate behaviors. People need to know that racism creates two worlds -us and them. There is only one world

I don't think that there is a proper way to deal with racism. Racism is a sign of ignorance and unfortunately there is no cure for ignorance. People are going to think what ever they want to think or what they are taught to believe. Experience is the best teacher, but ignorant people are not capable of experiencing what they dish. They just refuse to conform their beliefs. I say forget about them unless you feel threatened by their actions. Words can hurt, but they don't break bones or maim.

Im doing a study about Muslims' and Christians' attitudes towards each other. Researchers agree that increase in contact under certain conditions (like cooperation, friendship) helps one group develop more positive attitudes towards the other group. Basically, increased positive contact makes people realize that their biases are inaccurate, and it's not healthy to generalize a negative behavior or characteristic as true for all members of the 'undesirable' group.
Pettigrew and Allport have written influential papers regarding this topic.

I dont know if it's possible to change someone else's attitude toward racism. I can only hope that people who are racist will someday realize that racism breeds hate and hate is always hurtful.

Unfortunately, the West, as a whole, will never become "un-racist." Which is very discouraging. I feel there is no way to change someones mind about racism without forcably altering that person free will. Besides, a person can believe what he or she wants as long as it does not hurt someone else.
I am sorry, but it is nearly impossible for me to answer your question properly.

Of coarse anytime people don't come together for any reason that is not a good thing. We can just show them a better way in the life we try to live and the decision is ultimately theirs. Everyone has a right to their own opinion as long as it doesn't affect anyone else. Try to always overcome evil with good.

Unfortunately we cant. We have to understand that racism isn't something we are born with or decide to pick up along the way. Its something we are taught growing up as children from our parents. and something they learned from their parents. we have to start with our own children. I'm 25 and grew up with every type of race you could imagine. And now i have two of my own children and i started with them they have a lot of friends of different races and that because i taught them that there was no difference. We wont see racism disappear any time soon, not in our life time but we can start with our own children.
