Ethonal would be a nice choice but unfortunatly there is no way to even come close to producing enough to cover this countries needs.
There is not enough land to grow that much corn.
Fuel cells are the way to go.

Don't you mean GAS or ethanol? Oil & ethanol don't overlap in function.
Ethanol takes more gas & oil to produce than it's worth; in a word, ethanol is a net loss.
