because it just feels good to be right. Its an ego thing involved with it because it dosn't get me when someone calls me out for being wrong or making a mistake. But when they do it in repetetion or in front of others, it gets me upset.

I am a perfectionist, so I am disappointed in myself when I make mistakes. When someone else points them out to me, I am not defensive, but embarrassed and apologetic. I don't choose to be a perfectionist, it's just the way I am (character flaw or mental disorder?) I make a lot of mistakes and bad judgements and it sucks!

I do not think they react to the logic, they react to the idea of being wrong, or the idea of being questioned. It kind of becomes emotional when it moves away from logic.
When being challenged, there can be lots of other issues in the situation going on; social prejudices, age differences, gender differences, word choices, voice tone, personal history, etc.

Because the challenge is questioning their competence. Depending on the context, they may also feel that you are not appreciating their effort, nitpicking, demanding an unreasonable level of effort, misunderstanding their intentions, and so on and so forth.
If you really want to get into the psychology of it, their work is part of what supports their internal view of themselves, so your critique of the work is taken as a critique of the person.

Perhaps because it's an insult to their mind lol. Well, it is such a let down when someone points out a mistake you made, especially when your intention was to do something well. That's life though and a sign we are all human.

Ignorance is not excuse. But ignoring the topic is better than giving an answer. How shallow. But I've learned that those type of people are people that have their own world. I just choose not to live in it.

No one like to be wrong, no one like their mistakes to be brought up, especially the younger people as you get older it isn't as big a thing. I don't have much time to learn from my mistakes I am to busy making new ones.

Our brains are "wired" to allow us to think of ourselves as right. When an error is pointed out to us, we tend to find someone or some external circumstance to blame for the mistake so we can maintain our positive view of ourselves.

I know that personally I get defensive when I know I might be wrong. It's something we all must learn how to do, learn to admit we are wrong but it's just instinctive to get defensive.
