some people understand it now, or we would not be in space.

Gravity is understood. Ever hear of Isacc Newton?
Other things related to gravity are not so understood; quantum physics, space & time, relativity (yes Einstien worked until his death to totally tie everything, but could not)...singularity. As of yet, there is no one theory to explain the universe, and in theory it all should/can. In time I believe everything will be understood.

I understand that if you trip, its gravity to blame. If you have mass, and I have mass, we have a gravitational field. If you get enough mass in one place, you bend space. Looks like we understand it pretty well. What you are asking is if it will ever be linked to the other theories of physical forces. And, my answer is why not? Conversely, it may be completely independent on some fundamental level and a complete theory is impossible.

Err, gravity is linked to mass, the more mass the greater the gravity, the gravity of any object can be measured, (including you).
So what is to be understood?

Of course it will. Given we don't blow ourselves from the face of the planet, we will eventually learn quite a lot... including the nature of gravity.

I DO RIGHT NOW. The Bible clearly and scientifically says Jesus holds things together that other things seem to insist they fall apart.

As our understanding of physics leads us to newer forms of physics I believe it will. We already understand about half of it now. So yes I think so.

It can be understood but it can never be explained. We can understand what it does. We will never be able to explain why it exists.
