It will be my first time abroad and I am wondering if there are certain codes or special #'s needing to make a call to the US from europe. Thanks.

You'll need to dial a code for international calls, then the US's country code. That will be 011 and 1, then the area code and phone number. If you use a phone card, which can be a pretty good, relatively inexpensive way to call, there will often be instructions on the cards. Have fun!

To reach the USA from the United Kingdom(I think other European Countries as well) you must dial 00+1+area code+number. You can check other Country code requirements at this website.

find out the oversee's Number the US Country Code number they're in your phone book
and when in Europe most all Public Telephones take a card, where you can use your a Visa or MC and than you dial the country code-area code and phone number.

011 is the code for dialling from the US not to the US. The answer is every country in Europe will be different

Well, first of all, what number are you going to call? And second of all, the US and Europe are far away from eachother and you'd have to pay. It's long distance.

Read the small print about "fair usage" BT are useless , I stopped paying them 2 months into an 18 month contract since there broadband was so cr@p. After a few letters from debt collection agencies I wrote to them and said p!ss off, or take me to court. since then I have not heard from them Lol

Hey, , you will need a phone card.... for minutes.... most anyplace over there sells them...
The country code is 011 for the US.... then the area code and the number......

ask at your cell phone company because they can put a cheep in your cell phone and give a code number and you can take it with you
i did that and i took my cell from Europe to US so you may do that vice verse
