For me, it's far less stressful to read a book. With good lighting, I can read a book for hours without feeling eyestrain.
I think reading from a computer is worse because of the glow from the screen, and the fact that most people turn the lights down when using the computer so they can see the screen better. Poor lighting will cause eyestrain very quickly!
For long documents, try printing them before reading if possible.

Yep! John would probably have better eyesight but.. if I had a choice between being like John or like Richard, I think I would rather be John...have a great eyesight and not alot of money, whereas , with Richard, he is weathly and as he ages, he will probably have less and less sight.. Being able to see is priceless. . . .

It is probably better to read out of a book, especially if you were sitting in front of a computer in the dark

Book, for a variety of reasons like monitor interlacing, induced luminescence fatigue, etc.

All to say, it's best to read print on paper under incandescent or halogen light, not flourescent.
