But most important is can i spend the rest of my life with this person can i be totally honest with them and not have secrets. The best definition of Love I ever heard is this: "A profound and ever-present desire for the happiness of another".

The desire for acceptance and approval from others makes what is often called Love a mine field for the ego. If Love is based on feelings that you get from relationship with another person, you end up dependent or craving those feelings... and eventually people ALWAYS change so it's an impermanent condition. I think real Love is a very "grown-up" kind of thing, having very little to do with the high feelings we get out of the deal and very much about being willing to contribute to the happiness of another regardless of how the outcome benefits us.

in all the research i've done, in all the books i've read, i've never heard a better answer than "he just does." if you love someone, marrying them and wanting to live a life together should be as natural as wanting a piece of cake (if you like cake, if you don't, pick some other food you like). if you don't feel that way, then you're not in love (yet or anymore). don't fret, spend enough time and any two reasonable people will "love" each other--it just may be a bit boring if you guys can't have fun. in the end, love is like fear, it's built in and can't be faked.
