And, do you think men enjoy sex more than women? Are men more interested in appearance than women?

Also, does anyone think women are discouraged from expressing their sexual interests? Are men encouraged to?

I don't think men are more interested in sex then women but that there intrest in sex is less complicated by other issues. Women tend to attach more factors to sex.

Women have definatly been discuareged from expressing their sexual intrests through out history. There is a double standard. Women who express high sexual intrests have historically been considred sluts, dirty, good enough to sleep with but not good enough to take home to the parents. You get the point. Where as guys are considered studs. They are supposed to sow there wild oats in their youth. Nevermind that the women they do this with are at the same time considered to be sluts.

On could say that this trend may be starting to change. THe attitudes of the younger generations being far differnt from that of their parents and grand parents. But the double standard does still exist. It will be intresting to see what its like in 60 years or so.

In general, yes. But it begs the question, "why?"

Men are more visually stimulated than women, so there is a constant bombardment of images that bring sexual thoughts to men. Sexual thoughts lead to sexual urges, therefore, the *perception* that there's a greater interest.

Women are more stimulated by what they hear and feel. Since men are the predominant sexual focus for women, and because men have not been socialized to be "sensitive," women get very little of what they need to be stimulated. Hence the *apparent* lack of interest in sex.

I highlight the words "perception" and "apparent" because I think men and women are pretty close to equally interested in sex... GOOD sex. But we *see* things differently by gender; sex means something different (in general) for men and women. For men, initially, it is the imminent release of sexual tension...a necessary bodily function. Once in a committed relationship, it evolves into something more. Men have feelings too, contrary to popular belief! For women, it is the quest for emotional connection. When the emotional component is missing, she often feels something is missing, even if she doesn't understand exactly what that is. And sex is less satisfying...even if climax is achieved.

For this reason, I think men *in general* enjoy sex more than women because they don't require the emotional component like women do. Women are less often satisfied than men because: 1) it's harder for a woman to achieve the big O than it is for a man (the mental and emotional, not to mention hormonal, state of a woman can really wreak havoc on a woman's ability to climax), and 2) because women need the emotional connection to be truly satisfied and men just don't get that (in general).

BUT, women enjoy, appreciate sex (GOOD sex) just as much as men do. I'm all for it, myself! lol

As far as society's perception of women and sex, there is, and has always been, a huge double standard. Men want women to "put out," but if she does, or if she's vocal about enjoying sex, she's saddled with some very unsavory labels. But men can do whatever the heck they please without consequence from either males OR females! Both genders think the same about men and women, when it comes to sexual practices and morés.

I don't have the answer to this conundrum. But I would say that if people (especially men) took a less "recreational" view of sex and adopted a more "respectful, reverential, and mysterious" viewpoint, the gap might close a bit.

I don't think you can really say what is true for ALL men and women....but from my experience I think men are definitely more interested in sex than women are. I also think men enjoy it more. Women are victims of having to deal with men "thinking" they know what pleases us, but in reality they don't have a clue! Men are visual creatures and the eye pleases. So yes, they are more interested in appearance.

Most women who express their sexual interests are labeled as "sluts", where men are "studs". It's a double standard.

As a man.....how do you feel about it?

I think about sex all day everyday....And appearance is very important to me. I have no problems expressing my interest I think it is not a male/female difference I think it is the individual..But there is a double standard a man can say or do anything but if the woman does the same she is a slut...

Yes! But don't be too hard on us. Testosterone is responsible for our preoccupation.

A man can not answer that question objectively, only subjectively.
Yes, we enjoy it more.

Somewhat. If a woman has bad looking teeth, smells musky and looks unkempt, that would dampen the situation.
Otherwise no.

Today's women? absolutely not!
