Schindler's List, Beaches, Green Mile, the Notebook
I find personally that the saddest movies are documentaries of current affairs. Invisible Children is a rather sad documentary about children hiding because they are being hunted by the LRA to fight in their army.

Titanic. When I watched it I just thought to myself "wow, millions of people had to sit through this torture for 3 1/2 hours." How could James Cameron do this to humanity? Doesn't he know that the real story of the Titanic was a awful, but the movie Titanic was a tragedy.........catastrphe!!!!!!!!!!!!

the movie "John Q"...very emotional part when Denzel Washington's character is going to take his own life for his son's sake and Denzel talks to him for the last time (or so he thinks is the last time) about being a man and doing the right thing.
other sad movies:
"Saving Private Ryan"
"Good Will Hunting"
"City of Angels"
"Ladder 49"
"Backdraft"
"The Elephant Man"
"Courage Under Fire"
