Well, I'd love to say yes, but probably not.

There are some places working on making it more legal, by doing things like imposing smaller sentences for people caught with small amounts. I know for a fact in Philadelphia if you only have a small amount on you most cops will not bother to prosecute, because they've got bigger fish to fry(don't ask me how I know!). I believe in Nevada last election year (or was it the year before that?) they voted on a law which would make it legal for people to own a small amount for personal use, but it must be passed by votes twice or three times over the next six years actually become legal.

I think you'll see more little initiatives to decriminalize weed passed by liberal-minded states and cities, but the Feds won't give up on prosecuting it, because they have so much time and money invested at this point in their precious "War on Drugs".

With pot illegal there are now have large numbers of people using drugs, drug violence, expensive attempted enforcement of drug laws, more money spent to house those who are convicted of drug, sales. Otherwise law abiding people are associating with drug dealers, and the courts and law enforcement agencies are tied up with these cases when they really have better things to do.
If pot were to be legalized States would tax the sale of pot as they do now with other popular legal drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Pot selling drug dealers would be out of business. Money would not be spent on enforcement of those laws, buyers of legal pot wouldn’t be exposed to more dangerous illegal drugs or the people selling them. Legalizing pot would give tobacco growers a taxable alternative cash crop with fewer health issues. Did you know that hemp fiber makes superior cloth and rope, or that hemp oil, another valuable product, can be made into bio diesel fuel?
Oh yeah, to answer to your question: No, pot will not be legalized. Not until we have politicians with enough courage, and brains, oops, sorry, NO! We will spend lots of money to continue to support drug dealers, jail people, and loose any possible tax money and or product benefits of hemp, while we feel good about ourselves for pretending to save our children from the evils of nasty old drugs.

Only to provide extra relaxation to its patients. Not to be abused, because in fact weed really helps a lot of people. Cancer patients, eye, injuries, and many other deficienies some may have.

Here in the UK it is legal......well nearly - the police turn a blind eye to it and they don't even give you a caution for it most of the time.

Possesion with intent to supply is still naughty
