A child's culture can give them a different way of responding to situations. In some cultures it's disrespectful to look an adult in the eyes, while in others it's disrespectful not to. If you don't understand where the child has come from, then it will be difficult to know how the child is feeling or why they are acting a certain way.

So the caregivers can give the child some insight when he/she starts asking question.
Everybody has the right to know about their genetic and cultural background.

There are things in one culture that may be offensive to another. For example, many native American children are taught looking into someone's eyes is a sign of disrespect, but in other cultures you can just hear the adult saying, "Look at me when I speak to you." Or, Americans tend to talk with their hands a lot, but some cultures think it is rude.

If, for example, the family is Orthodox Jewish, you'd only want to serve the child kosher foods to respect their religion. There are many reasons for needing to be aware of ethnic/religious/cultural backgrounds beyond one example, of course.

So the caregiver can know if he/she needs to watch her valuables, her back, or something else when the kids around.

Don't be judge mental, be yourself. And don't let them smell fear. Really. If they feel as if you are timid they will walk all over you in all kinds of ways. Try not to ask a whole lot of question. Do things the way you know how to do them. Be nothing but you.

So they're not teaching them what their families don't believe in. Also, sometimes it affects the food, health care, etc...
