To you, cows appear bored.
But most of the cows go to mooooooooovies.
Some cows jump over the moon to break the monotony.
True! to most cows....it's just an udder day.

I think they do get bored sometimes. I have seen cattle (mainly calves, but sometimes cows) go to investigate something that is in their pasture that is out of the ordinary. They also fight with each other by butting heads but I don't know if that is playing or establishing dominance. I do know baby calves run and buck and play quite a bit. Feedlot cattle get bored too. I used to clean their water tanks every day and it was like a stampede to get to me when I walked down the alley between pens. The first time they did that it scared me, my husband laughed and said "They're just bored". When they got used to me being around, they quit running to me, I was boring too I guess.

Cattle do get bored. When they do not have enough grass to graze on or feed they will often eat other items such as dirt, rocks, and other non food items.
"Depraved appetite is seen when cattle consume nonfeed materials such as dirt, sand, fine stone, and many other substances for no apparent reason. Many suggest that these habits can be explained on the basis of nutrient deficiency, but this has not been confirmed by research. One possible explanation for this habit is that such cattle are “bored.”"

I am saddened that so many feel that cattle are stupid! Mine come when they are called, anjoy running and bucking, and play with things in thier field. Most of the time it is another cow, but any thing will work. I had show cattle that enjoyed the ride & pampering. If there is such a thing as reincarnation I want to come back as a cow. They have the easiest most laid back & fun life!

yes, of course they do, i mean put yourself in the shoes of a cow for a minute. you eat grass, drink water, and well... do your necessities, and thats it! that's all you do all day. then you sleep for a few hours to wake up at 5 in the morning to eat more grass again. i would be pretty damn bored to! and then, they take your milk that is supposed to be for your baby cows, ok fine, go ahead and do it, it will be a little change on the routine after all, but then, they're not happy with you giving them milk... noooo, they also have to freaking kill you and take your meat. and if you think of the way the reproduce, its not fun either, you have to freaking carry a million pounds bull. if you think about it... the life of a cow is pretty shitty... eat more chicken!!!

You would think they would get bored, wouldn't you? I've often wondered the same thing myself. I think animals probably do feel boredom every now and again. I know dogs and cats do, and as cows are also domesticated animals, it would stand to reason that cows probably become bored.

They only graze while we're there. Once the humans are gone, they start working on their secret bovine plot to take over the lesser Antilles.
