How often is it necessary to give an 8 month old a bath? Once a day? Once a week?

1-2 times per week is what my son's Dr. told me. If you bathe them too often you will dry out their skin and you can give them cradle cap. Always use baby lotion after bath time too!

P.S. Obviously if the baby gets too dirty in between bath days you give them a bath if you need to. And keep face, booty, and hands clean always.

I would say a full tub bath every other day unless your child gets particularly dirty. The face, hands and bottom should be washed at least daily. If you wish to bathe the child more make the beginning of the bath play time and remove the child from the water as soon as you're done soaping him/her up. This will prevent drying of the skin.

I have an 8 month old too.
We bath him once every few days. Some people bath them every day as part of a routine, but we find we don't need to do it everyday (plus we both work full time so time is precious!)

Once a day- however if they are feverish or a stuffed up nose an extra tempid bath won't hurt. Or if its extremely hot outside and extra bath that day won't hurt-

However some babies you can only bathe every 2nd- keeping the bottom area clean at least- cause their skin is so sensitive...
they break out in eczema or rashes

It depends on what they are eating, solids?, what type of moving they are doing, crawling? Just figure at least once a day, sometimes more depending on what they are doing and how dirty they get and what time of day you bathe them. If you bathe your baby at night, then just once a day is fine. Just think, how often do you yourself take a shower? Everyday?, Your baby should be bathed as often as you bathe yourself...think of it that way.

It is summer, it is hot, a bath it is a wonderful thing at any age, this is a great way to get them relaxed at night so they go to sleep.

Once a day, use baby soap and baby shampoo and don't worry. At this age, I popped my son in a neighbor's pool a few times a day to cool off. It did no hurt him at all, in fact he passed the Red Cross Life Saving test at 10, other thenhe could not pick up the brick from the bottom of the pool.

Try a bath every night an hour before bed time he/she will relax and go to sleep a lot easier. But every day is a good idea at that age they crawl and spend most of there time on the floor.

I have a eight month old son and i bathe him at night and I wash him up through out the day because he spits up frequently. But babies shouldn't bathe like older kids because their skin can dry out quicker. As long as his neck, hands , and clothes are clean he will be just as fresh as those who bathe daily.

Please bathe your baby once a day. I did this since my son was a baby..he has never pitched a fit to take a bath..he is 5 and loves them... there have been rainy days were we have stayed in all day and not gotten sweaty or dirty..and i will think we can skip a night.. NO WAY he reminds me that he HAS to have one.. so I think that this promotes good hygine!
