The government shutdown was for non-essential services only. Your check is essential, so it should be on its way. Also, the legislature and your governor agreed to raise your sales tax to 7 cents, so the government will be reopening today.
Call the disability office if your check takes much longer to arrive.

It wouldn't surprise me. I didn't know anything was wrong "back home" until I got an email from my sister. She was just upset that they might cancel the Mary J Blige concert. But today I got a "happy" email. NJ is open for business! And I thought the south was bad!!
