I posted an awful joke directed towards Jewish people. Keep in mind, I am Jewish. Anyways, I saw a joke (I hope, anyways) Directed toward African Americans. My question was deleted before anyone had the chance to read it. The other was up almost all day. It appears that it is now ok to direct those types of jokes towards Muslims. I don't think any of us are ignorant enough to think that the Talaban represents the whole, so why do these jokes fly, and the others don't?

I don't know why in your case your jokes were selective. But Racism is actively out there and at least here in the U.S. we have FREEDOM OF SPEECH. So if you belong to a racist group, you can recruit, march, speak etc... It becomes a crime when a racist actually commits a crime such a HATE CRIME.

No racism is acceptable. I believe that any jokes or negative comments about other races should be deleted, no matter what the race is.
It's not that racism is acceptable, it's that we have become too complacent towards it. People don't stand up for what's right any more, and because of this, all the work that the civil rights workers in the 60s did is becoming null.

We live in a culture that thinks that some groups need more protection that others. All GROUPS should be treated the same, however it seems only minoritys get that priveledge.

That causes resentment, really any joke, comment offensive to any group, be they White, african, jewish etc should not be accepted....or less it is the case that the situation needs it (such as a confrence where its relevant etc..)

It just seems to be mainstream to make fun of people different than what we are. If you don't do it, you're not "cool". I've been there at one point in my life and I felt that I really didn't hate those people, but I made jokes about them simply so I would be "socially" acceptable. I'm long ways from that, thankfully.

Racism is never honestly acceptable, but someone has to be the foil for our scurrilous jokes and Muslims are on the menu today.

Racism shouldn't be acceptable! It's my least favorite thing in the world. We should all treat people the way we'd like to be treated.
