How do you 'catch their eye' enough and end up actually hanging out with them after the show.. how do you meet them... especially considering they're not very famous yet.. etc... helpp!

For most bands, it is nearly impossible. You have to consider that most bands are on tour, so after one show, they usually hop onto a bus/plane, and onward to the next show. Which means you cant really hang out with them.
For more localized bands, its always possible i guess. Just strike up a conversation, and see how it goes from there. Of course, if you are found to be lying, then well, you know.
Best shot you have is either a backstage pass or having a friend in the band, or works with the band.

Either send them am email or contact their publicist and ask if there is a way to get a backstage pass after the show. If they like you, they may invite you to hang with them afterwards.

it depends on the band. I usually hang w/ certain bands after their shows. Some bands stay after the show to meet fans, others don't It just depends on which band your seeing.

Maybe you should join their fan club. Aerosmith treats their fan club members pretty well and has pre-sales for shows that include back stage passes and stuff.
