Because our society puts an unnatural emphasis on numbers...how old a woman is defines her sexiness and beauty to a lot of people, and we all know how obsessive society is about weight, clothing size, etc. If a woman weighs more than 115 pounds and wears more than a size 4 or 6, well, to a lot of people, especially other girls, she is too fat to be attractive. So she is afraid you and others around will judge her.
On the other hand if a girl is young, I suppose she wants people to think she is older maybe???

Because in the past, when men where suppose to be gentlemen and not how a lot of men are today it wasn't done. A gentleman would never asked a lady personal questions unless they were marred, or their doctor. A lady's personal information was just that personal. Gentlemen treated a lady with respect, and dignity.

Both can be very sensitive questions to women. Many women are concerned or insecure about their looks, and how much one weighs and how old they are is usually related to how they look. If you ask "how much do you weigh"?, the girl might hear it as "OMG, I am too fat". Same thing which age, a woman might think something like " do I have wrinkles, do I look too old/young?

lol, one word dear, VANITY!!! we are a vain breed, with youth come beauty or so we think so we try to think we are young and pretty, if u ask our age u remind us how we really are. as for weight, well, also vanity, in our culture its on pretty to be thin and we may feel ok on one level being say 5'8 and 200 lbs but to have to confess that both emberrasses us and reminds us that we are as a matter of fact, not perfect. yes, u got it, girls are strange, cant live with em, cant shoot em

It's really rude because girls will ALWAYS be insecure about themselves.
They don't want people to think of them as fat, or too skinny. They don't want to look older than they are (for adults) or younger (for teens).
It's just that they're not sure what other people would think of them and say behind their back.

I'm 27 (well, 28 on Monday) and am 8 stone 4.
I don't have a problem with it - but maybe it's just the fat, old women who do??????

I've always thought that was strange, too. I am female, 38 years old and 135 lbs and I'm very proud of it.
