My name is John André and she has her mind set on having a Johnny Jr. (if it is a boy) even though I'm not so big on the idea since this isn't my first son. I just think that would be a little weird. Not as bad if he were my first. Cliff is a family name (her side) that we would like to use but don't have to. We've narrowed it down to these names:

Cliff Ellis
Cliff Lucas
Cliff William
Dylan Ellis
John André Jr.
John Ellis

If the baby is a girl though, we do have a name picked out - Samantha Lillian. Samantha after my brother Samuel who was killed nearly 6 years ago and Lillian because we really like the name. What do you think of this one?

This is my 6th child (brothers James Timmothy (Timmy), Douglas Jackson (Dougie), Markus Paul & Mattias Petr (Mark & Matt) and sister Katherine Kelsey(Katie)) and this is her 3rd (brothers Kyle Henry & Douglas Jackson(Dougie))

I don't think that the son should be named after you, simply because it isn't your first son. It can also cause a lot of confusion when receiving male etc, even if there is a Jr in the name. Sorry!

Cliff is a nice name. I think that it would be nice for her to use a family name on her side. Ellis is a great middle name!

Lucas is great as well, although I don't think it compliments Cliff very well. This is because the two names appear to be from different decades in time, with Cliff being used earlier and Lucas being a more modern name.

I think my favourite combination is Cliff William. It's a sophisticated choice, that fits in very well with your other children's name.

I don't think that Dylan and Douglas sound very good together. I think that could lead to a bit of a tongue twister. I also don't like Ellis as a middle name for Dylan, because then there is a prominent 'l' sound in both names.

Samantha is a beautiful name, timeless! It fits in very well with the mother children's names, because it is a classic as well. Lillian is also very nice, and really compliments Samantha.

Personally I like John Ellis for a boy. It's a classic name with a little twist, and it's not trendy. It will suit him as a child, and when he's grown. There are a lot of nicknames for John, and if you like you could use his middle name to avoid others confusing him with you. And it might also satisfy your partner's desire for a "Junior", even though it's not really because the middle name is different. So he could still be like his dad and yet be distinct.

IMHO, "Cliff" should be a middle name, not a first name, if you really want to use it. (Just reverse the order of the names in your list and any of them are decent.)

I like Samantha Lillian...kind of some funky combination of a modern name and an old-fashioned name.

I'm not too fond of the name Cliff. I think Dylan or John Ellis sounds really cool. And I think that Lillian is a beautiful name- it's not overly used either.

John Ellis, definitely. It just sounds good together.

Plus I wouldn't recommend John Andre, Jr. That sometimes causes problems once the child is older. Even though your SS# is used for certain things, people still can make mistakes.

I like Dylan Ellis.... I like the name John too, but I had a very bad life changing experience with a person by that name, so I couldn't use it as a child's name.
