I'd like to hear from the Africans themselves about their solutions to poverty. Perhaps someone (Bono?) could help make reliable nternet access and freedom of speech more readily available in Africa.

It varies from country to country (it amuses and rather frightens me how people refer to 'Africa' as if it were a single country), but freedom of speech, interenet access- all of that is a joke in a place like Somalia or the Congo which doesn't even have a stable government. Before people can utilize Internet access, they must have education, and before they can have education they must have a stable country to live in.

Other countries such as South Africa and several on the East Coast promote free speech. I agree that the solution must from those who actually live the situation every day- for a couple hundred years other people (Europeans) have tried making decisions FOR Africa and look how well that turned out.

i do not think Africans have too much freedom of speech especially children do not get me wrong i know it is good to bring up your kids to have respect but it does not mean everytime they say something you have to punish them it just means they are trying to speak what they have on their mind,i mean as a nigirean when i was in school sometimes when i get a quetion wrong the teachers have to punish me i mean is it wrong to make a mistake no .as for the adult they are adult so you can,t control them not only in nigirea but also in africa.
