I'm trying to remember if that program was the one that had a guy who commanded a mini army of strange, tall men who would swim though a lake and emerge as fearsome jelly-like blobs.
I don't remember how they used to destroy the blobs, but they eventually traced them back to their nest and ended the series.

Not exactly, but there were two childrens' sci-fi series called "Chocky" and "Chocky's Children" IIRC. Might they be what you're looking for?
