If you want a pet squirrel look for a breeder. If you go out and catch a wild one it could have parsites and what not. Besides, if you get a pet squirrel from a breeder it'd be tame instead of wild.

tho you can find squirrels in any wooded area in most parts of the country do not attempt to catch a wild squirrel. squirrels bite hard and will drawn blood. they're stronger than they look and their claws are quite sharp. if you really desire a squirrel experience check with your local wildlife rehabilitation center. every spring and fall orphaned squirrel pups need feeding and care. they're cute, lively and affectionate until they're old enough to mate. the males get especially aggressive as they get older. squirrels don't really make good pets as even the tame ones are destructive. I've raised many squirrel pups and I've loved each one but I've always let them free when they matured. they come back for visits tho. Philbert hung around and took treats from my hand for nearly 7 years.

you can find them any place where there are trees. squirrels make their home (nest) at the top of a tree and come down to look for food. two years ago i started throwing food (crackers, nuts, bread, pizza crust, chips, fruit) out on my patio and the squirrels come to eat it. earlier this year, a squirrel got brave enough to come right up to my hand and take the food from me with its little paws. sometimes, when a squirrel wants more, he'll come right up to my door and look up at me like he's telling me he's still hungry. so the first step would be for the squirrel to trust you enough to come close to you, which takes a while since squirrels aren't meant to be tame housepets. then you could open your door and invite the squirrel in, but only if you are going to love it and take care of it so it's happy and comfortable.

Why do you want to catch a squirrel? Where are you from? If you are from Canada it is against the law to keep wildlife.

I don't think catching a squirrel is wise... They AREN'T pets and aren't particularly friendly... Plus rabies and several other diseases are always a possibility. It's also very likely that keeping one is illegal in your state because of these risks...

Climb a telephone pole and just sit up there for a few hours. Cover your self with telephone and cable wire. When they come they will instantly start chewing on your wires. (I think the outer shielding is made out of nut flavor plastic.) Slowly descend the pole while they are gnawing away and have a friend pluck 'em off when you get down.

I don't want to know what you want to do with 'em. My mental picture is most amusing.
