Yes, I do normally tip when I go out and eat at a resturant. How much I tip depends on the service. There was an incident once at a cook your own food restaurant where I did not tip at all. The waitress was too busy talking and sitting with her friends. The waitress neglected her job of serving the my friends and I by NOT getting our initial drink, plates, napkins, etc.. My friends and I waited for 15 minutes then went and get our own plates, napkins, etc.. Tipping generally from 0% to 20%. In this one unique case.. I gave 0%.
Also, I do not tip when I'm buying fast food to eat.

If you do not tip, you are cheap and insulting to the person who has served you. That waitron earns most of their money from their tips. The standard tip these days is 15%. Large parties tend to get an automatic 18% added to their bills.
If there was a problem with the meal, talk to the waitron and/or the manager, but don't stiff the server because of it.
Dear Abby had a great column on this a number of years ago. An elderly couple wrote in and said while driving across country they left little fortunes or sayings instead of tips to brighten the day of the servers, since they felt they couldn't afford tips. "Abby" said if you can't afford the tip, don't eat in the restaurant. And giving just a little saying is only saying "I'm a cheapskate."

I tip. My meals usually run about $8.00 when I dine out at a formal restuarant (I don't tip at fast food chains). I usually leave a dollar tip so I'm giving usually in the ball park of 10 - 15 %. I'll give more if the wait person is fantastic.
I'll tip for friends/dates/family who are with me.
I won't tip if I get very poor service, and if you're a jerk, I'll leave you a penny with a note that says "Here's your tip - get a job you're better at".

I always tip, 15% to 20%. If it is bad service, I tip 10%. I tip at the car wash, $2 to the vacuum guy, and $3 to the guy at the end. If the guy at the grocery store helps my carry my stuff to the car, he gets $1 to 3.

Yes - tip unless the service was horrible and the waiter or waitress was to blame. Waiters and waitresses depend on those tips for their income. An employer does not have to pay full minimum wage to employees who are normally tipped and they don't in almost every case.
It used to be 10%, however, 15%-20% is usually more like it these days. While I can understand tipping little if he/she gives really bad service, please don't take it out on them if it is the fault of someone in the kitchen.

when you go out to eat in a restaurant you are supposed to tip. If you have a waitress or waiter you are supposed to tip. The best way to figure out how to tip is to double the sales tax on your bill.

you should always tip. How much you tip depends on food, service...that sort of thing. I usually tip 10% of the bill, but alot of the time more.

I usually tip unless the service is REALLY bad, then no. I look at the tax, I double that, and that's how much tip I leave.
