Mitt Romney is thinking of running for president. If he wins, he'll be the first Mormon president. About 17% percent of Americans say they would not vote for a Mormon under any circumstances. That's about the way people felt about a Catholic president before Kennedy got elected. Personally, I'd love to have a true conservative as like Romney as president and I don't care much if he's Mormon. But I'm wondering what ya'll think.
FYI: Most Mormons don't endorse polygamy anymore.

I don't vote for presidents based on their religions. I vote based on their position of issues and their morals (for example: if I think they are honest and hard-working). If I think Mitt Romney will make the best president (out of all the candidates), then I will vote for him. If I think someone else can do a better job, I'll vote for them instead.

Yes, I would vote for a Mormon candidate if they were the epitome of my ideals. I am LDS/Mormon and I wouldn't just vote for somebody just because they are LDS. I vote for whoever I think will do what is best for the people they are representing. And in response to a few other answers, the LDS church does NOT support polygamy in any way shape or form AND I am a female and I am an equal partner in my marriage. I do not feel oppressed or burdened and nobody, including myself, considers me a baby factory.

I like Romney as a candidate, too. I don't see him as a "true conservative", as you put it, but maybe a little "right of center" or "fiscally conservative/socially moderate", which is what we need. Religion has no bearing on who I'd vote for. I'm voting for the person I feel would do the best job at defending the Constitution, not the Bible.

If he gets the nomination and the Dems put up another moron like the last 2, I'd vote for him.

Yes, I would vote for Romney if his stances on issues matched my own, or at least the majority of his stances. Religion should have absolutely nothing to do with who you vote for. To not vote for someone because he's Mormon? I'm sorry, but that's called discrimination. I just love how people cringe at some types of discrimination and completely ignore the others. But that's off topic, if you vote for a candidate it should be because you agree with his/her political stances, not because his/her opponent happens to be Mormon.

No, I would not vote for him. I am not a particularly religious person, but I have family that are Mormon. If he is a good Mormon, he believes in male superiority. Well, I am a woman, so I don't believe God made any man better than any woman. I lived in a town that was 90% Morman and my neighbors would not let their children come into the Gentile's house or let their children play with my children. Guess I have a few bones to pick there.

You really need to find out more about his religion before you say it would not matter. I mean really find out about it.

Mitt Romney in 2008!!!! And FYI, no Mormons endorese polygamy anymore. If you practice it, you are excomunicated. The only church that practices it, is called the fundamentalist church. And they are mostly in Arizona and Colorado, not Utah.

If he's the best candidate for the job, then why not? I don't give a damn what religion he is, except that I draw the line at Satanism.
