We vote these people into office, they get the BEST health care, Retirement, sick leave,Vacation, Holiday pay, ETC., ETC., ETC. When, my Father, never asked a sole for any kind of help. After working with a company for 36 years got a pink slip, had to stand in line at the unemployment line and died a year after getting his Social Sec. started. From Lung problems that were exasperated by asbestos exposier. He wouldn't even check into any kind of law suit because of his LOYALTY to the company that laid him off! How LOYAL are our elected officials? Ask Jack Abrahmoff

When will the general public get the respect. Well, when we have huge bank accounts that the yes men covet. When we become more active in the community and politics, instead of burying our heads in the sand. When we become more tolerant of opposing views and stop acting in the way this american society nurtures, ignorance and selfishness

Sorry to hear about your father. But the bottom line is It is not the Governments responsibility to take care of hard working Americans.
This is the kind of liberal agenda that countries like Germany or the Scandinavian countries have. Guaranteed employment places a unconstitutional burden on the executives of the Fortune 500 companies.

I personally do not give any of our elected officials respect. You have to accomplish something to do that in my book. All i see are rising costs of living and higher taxes to pay for a war we shouldn't be in. The american people are never going to recieve the same level of ammenities that the rich recieve. Never. That would mean our elected officials and highly respected know nothing doctors, lawyers and other professionals would have to tighten their belts. Won't happen. Ask this question to the international commnity if you think I am being too harsh to our beloved chief.

We'll never get any respect from the people we elect until we demand changes in our corrupt political system.
Thomas Jefferson once said: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." That time is way overdue.
It's time for American citizens to start a second Revolution. But, here's the rub: until we get off our couch, put down the remote, and demand to take our country back, nothing will change.
Politicians don't want you to vote because that increases the chance that they might NOT get re-elected. Low voter turn-outs help keep them in power, and allow them to continue sucking off the taxpayers' teat.
So WE the People allow them to enrich themselves with lavish salaries, all-expense-paid luxury vacations, outrageous cost-of-living pay increases (while they refuse 'common' folks an increase in the minimum wage). These mongrels get the very best health and medical care, courtesy of the U.S. taxpayers, and enjoy the best retirement pension plan in the world, all because they decided to do it for themselves without so much as a whimper from the American public.
Like common two-dollar-a-trick whores, they slither into bed with any special interest group or big corporation that pledges big bucks to their campaign, without one iota of respect for "We the People..."
When WE decide to take up arms against such a tyrannical and oppressive government (which the U.S. Constitution gives us the right to do), then things will change. Until then, we're like lobsters comfortably lounging in a pot of lukewarm water. Only when the water starts to boil will we scream in agony over our own apathy.
I, too, was "pink-slipped" after the multi-billion-dollar company I worked for decided it could save millions of dollars if they let an entire echelon of middle managers go right before they were eligible for early retirement, or eligible to be vested in the pension plan. Big corporations, lobbyists, special interest groups and the welathy elitists in this country tell politicians what to do, and the politicians - like good little lambs - do it. Without remorse. Without so much as a twinge of conscience.
Meanwhile, we pre-occupy ourselves with all those really vital concerns of the day: maxxed-out credit cards; Britney Spears' love life; $3.00-a-gallon fuel for our $60,000 SUVs; professional landscaping for our $350,000 homes; Jacko's pedophilia; and the latest rankings of our favorite football team.
If all the lawyers and politicians in the country were thrown into a desolate Louisiana swamp, even the pondscum would throw 'em all back! These people, led by George Bush, Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfeld and the most corrupt U.S. Congress in history, are evil, despicable, incompetent and corrupt to their core.
Surely Satan has reserved a special oil-soaked corner of Hell for all of them, where they can spend their eternal damnation blaming each other for the mess they made of our world. -RKO-

This is strictly my opinion. However, based on history repeating itself, you can expect more of the same rather than an improvement. The things that you have decribed requires money(and LOTS of it). The respect that we can possibly expect from the higher life forms in office will always be minimal.
