I think that we get too much "nonsense" news. I mean, whenever you turn on the news they start talking about the war in Iraq for like 5 minutes, then they start talking about "How you can lose weight in 3 weeks!" or about a horse that can roll over and draw pictures!!! The media keeps trying to make news "fun", but come on! The world is usually a depressing place! Wars happen! Robberies happen! Fights happen! Murders happen! The media can't keep denying that those things happen! If the media wants to make news "fun", then hire a clown to be the anchor- it would be a lot better then hearing all the "nonsense" news!

I think the media gets hold of certain stories and beats them to death. Repeating the same information over and over. Unless there is a major breaking story I stay away from the cable news channels and only tune in to their nightly news broadcasts. Sometimes I feel like I've been saturated in the news. Then I just have to turn it off and walk away. An example is 9/11. It's not that I had lost interest, I just could no longer process all the horror of that time. I've viewed other cable news shows and feel like the guests and host are trying to verbally beat each other up. The more sensational, the better. That's not for me.

No doubt about this one. Absolutely. People got along just fine in years past by not having gobs of news. It's a relative. The news is important for major events, but don't clog up my life with stories like, "12 people died today from a blah blah blah". Part of the problem with the news is that is does nothing but expose all the negativity in the world. If the news is going to contune to be predominantly all about the bad stuff (which it will), then yeah, we get entirely too much news.

I feel like we get too many opinions and too much "bad news." Wouldn't each and every one of you out there wish somebody would tell about a little "good news" every so often; or even once a day? I'm sure there is some good news out there somewhere. Everything can't be bad in the world. That's my opinion.

Yes and no. I think that the media tries to cover too many stories too quickly. I often feel as though I have not been given enough information about a news event to consider myself "educated." In this situation, the news seems to be more trivial than important.

Well...I think for me..it's just that all (or certainly most) of the news is bad. I've decided to cut down on what I listen to..I think it's because there is nothing I can do to fix things..or certainly most things..and I just get too sad..and that's not good for the people I love and CAN fix some things. It's sure hard to keep hope though. I know what you mean.

YES, I rarely watch the TV news because I started noticing how depressed I became after I got old enough to start actually paying attention to what is really going on in the world, as presented by the media.

No. And anybody who does think we get too much news is just trying to close themselves off to the world. What would be the benefit of not knowing these things> Ignorance isn't bliss, it's just ignorant.

Yes. One motivational speaker told me to stop watching the news. I did, and my life is so much better. Sure, these things still happen. The only difference is that now they have absolutely no effect on me or my life. It's important to learn about what you can change or have control over. Anything else is just a drain on your energy.

We don't get enough real news.
All we see on the news is scare tactics and propaganda, and oh yeah the latest happenings of Brad Pit and the rest of Hollywood.
We could actually use a program that actually reports the news.
