You can start off by asking them what you would need to do to "earn the privilege" of having a cell phone. Do this in a respectful way and handle your emotions appropriately if they say "no". It may not have anything to do with being able to pay for it. I may have more to do with the way you handle yourself in other areas of your life (Grades, chores, responsibilities). When you do well in these areas, it may make it more clear that you can handle the responsibility of a cell phone. Once you find out from them what you need to do to "earn the privilege", then go out and do it. Prove that you can handle it.

Well, if you have a job to pay for it..and some sort of credit history?
Then you should have no problem.( most want a credit account to get started) Otherwise..you are not old enough and shouldn't have one,trust me, most kids that do are either on someone elses account, a pre-paid phone ( which is ridiculous)or on their extra phone deal or their mommy and daddy pay for it for them.Grrrr

Well if you are not 18 then you can not get one because your parents have to sign the contract... if they dont think you are mature enough for one then you should respect their decision.

get a pre paid one and do not tell them. your parenst will never knwo that you have a cell phone since you won't be recieving bill at home.

track phone....$20 dollars and they dont even have to know about it....go to a friends and activate it.....all you pay is the phone cards easiest way i know.
