Just to clarify some of the previous answers: even the English were Catholic at the time, so it wasn't a case of Protestants versus Catholics.
Hearing the voice of God was not the reason she was accused of witchcraft. The French were more than happy to believe her - not least because of the success she brought in the war against the English. But when she was captured by the Burgundians, who were in league with the English, she was accused of heresy/witchcraft as a means to get rid of her - they had no other reason to do so, but she was too powerful a symbol for the French.

She was a French Catholic.......in England.
Those English don't like Catholics and they REALLY don't like the French. They much prefer Protostants.
So no Joan of Arc was not a witch. But a French Catholic in England gets the same treatment.

Joan of Arc was Christian but was burned at the stake because people thought she was a witch. She claimed that God spoke to her and told her to lead the French army to victory. When she told people this everyone thought that she was insane and practiced witchcraft

Joan of Arc was a Catholic, she was only burned at the stake because she claimed she heard the voice of God. However during the time in which she lived hearing voices was a sign of "witchcraft". Also the Church Hierarchy who couldn't stand the fact that a lay person and a woman to boot could hear the voice of God while they couldn't got nervous and thus tried her for "witchcraft" so that they could rid themselve of a thorn in their side who could have ousted them from their lofty and comfortable positions.

Joan D'Arc became not a 'witch'. She became a youthful woman who became confident she became being spoken to by ability of messengers from God, exceptionally St. Michael. that's an argument of background that she went to the Prince of France and persuaded him (we don't understand how) to allow her to steer his armies interior the conflict against England. This she did, to super victories, even nonetheless she became in user-friendly terms a peasant woman and thoroughly untutored in conflict or weapons. She became finally captured by ability of the English in between the battles and extra to England the place she became tried as a heretic, as she wore adult males's outfits which became against church regulation on the time, and insisted that St. Michael had informed her what to do with regards to the battles. The English church desperate that she became easily in league with the devil and that the devil had used his powers to get her right into a place of authority, etc., so she became categorized a witch and a heretic and burned on the stake by ability of the English. The French, upon studying this, grew to grow to be so infuriated that they completely defeated the English and went to the Pope on the time insisting that Joan D'Arc be made a saint and martyr, which she became in the top. She is seen the Patrol Saint of France now, i think.

Well she's been canonised by the Catholic church making her Saint Joan! They don't tend to do that with witches. She was posthumously cleared of heresy and named as a martyr in the mid 15th century.

I think in today's society she would have been considered a schizophrenic. And yes I do believe that she felt led by God and felt that she was truly serving Him. So yes she was a christian in her mind however the Church of Catholism did her a disservice as well as misleading others.
