Hate? It's simple. People cant understand anything that is different. The reasons for all wars in history and religion is b/c people couldnt accept their differences. If people were more open-minded, the world would be a better place but, we are taught from birth how things should and shouldnt be- good always conquers evil, the guy always gets the girl, the poor suffer and the rich thrive- anything that says otherwise is considered scandalous these days. Hopefully, people will learn to grow around these prejudices and be more accepting.

Last part first:
Gay marriages aren't legal simply because the majority of congressman and senators believe that backing or voting for a bill which would legalize gay marriage would offend a majority of their constituents and thereby guarantee they would never be re-elected.
Right or wrong, this country was founded by, and still has a large majority of citizens who consider themselves to be, religious or more broadly, believe in the writings of various religions (Koran, Talmud, Bible, etc.)
Because these lawmakers want to be in office, they are hesitant to endorse any idea they believe would offend a majority of their constituents. It's simply numbers. If a majority of the Nation's citizens were Muslims, we would not be at war in Iraq. If a majority of the Nation's Citizens were polygamists, ploygamy would be legal.
For what its worth, I had thought at one time that the government may believe that since same sex marriages do not produce children except through artifical means, they may view same sex marriage as a zero growth threat, meaning no more taxpayers being born to those couples.
All Hate is based in fear. People are afraid of what is different or what they do not understand, and since Gays and Lesbians are not a majority in this country, their sexual orientation will be different from most people and therfore feared and hated by most people.

Like everything humans do they were taught to hate, don't you think it's a bit hateful if you are molested as a child and turned gay, but no one wants to talk about how young men and women are turned gay do they, so we could stop the hate by stopping the people who molest.
99% are not born gay but turned gay now that is hateful and whats the big deal about marriage MONEY, 2 men alone 2 women alone can not produce children so therefore it's not natural to be gay.

Ok, I'll try to explain the hate. Many straight guys feel a visceral revulsion to male homosexuality. They feel threatened by it. This isn't totally imaginary. There is homosexual rape, mostly in prison.
I believe the source of this hate is fear, fear of being forced into homosexuality, or catching it, or having one's children become gay.
Mr. Peabody
All hater doesn't come from fear. A lot comes from envy. A lot comes from anger about a real or imagined injustice.

People fear what they don't understand, People hate what they fear.
Also many people have been taught it is evil by parents, teachers, or clergy. Until they meet some one who is gay or realize they are gay themselves, they may not have any contact and will readily believe the lies. Its kinda like raceism that way.

there is no hate, well not from me
i just disaprove of the homosexuality because i see it as wrong (the acts not the life style)
plus, civil unions would fit gay people better so they should work on that instead of marriage
