I have a Leadtek Geforce A6600GT, and I just found out I've been an idiot for ages by having both the Leadtek and the NVIDIA drivers installed..Luckily it didn't seem to cause too many problems, but I want to update the drivers in any case, so the question is, do I go with the NVIDIA ForceWare drivers, or with the Leadtek drivers?

Does anyone know what the advantages/disadvantages of using each are?

Can only tell you what most of the PC mags reviewers, etc have said.

In some cases companys (in your case Leadtek) may have modified the base GPU software and supporting components. So it would be best to use their drivers.

However, as you've experienced, you may not experience any problems using the manufacturer's software\drivers.

You could install the Leadtek drivers and run a video test, UNinstall them, then Install NVIDIA's drivers then run the video test again to check results.

Leadtek is only the manufacturer of the board, like dozens of others like AOpen, ASUS, Diamond, Chaintech, BIOSTAR etc, etc, but only Nvidia makes the chipset for your card

Nvidia's drivers are the most up to date for your card.

Oh, btw for an exteral hard drive, all you need is an enclousure and a spare internal hard drive I like the Venus DS3
