Jimi Hendrix or Jimmy Page? They should have a guitar fight to the death...or life. Okay, If Hendrix wins, he should come back to life, if Page wins, Hendrix should still come back to life and Page shouldn't die. So a fight to the not death.

Hendrix is a God. But personally I'd go for John McLaughlin of the Mahavisnu Orchestra. That man can play guitar. Up there with Dave Gilmour, Steve Hackett and Jeff Beck.

Andres Segovia

Any classically trained guitarist beats a so called rock God hands down.
You may not like the music but the likes of Hendrix & Page could only dream of being able to play half as good.

Toss up between Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, I'd say.

The best to listen to HENDRIX pushing out Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd but the most influential is EDDIE VAN HALEN he made more people pick up a guitar than anyone else

There is no best guitarist ever but no guitarist has ever had the same impact that Hendrix has had on popular music. Most of the guitar heroes themselves even take their hat off to Hendrix.
Jimmy Page's impact on musical history is still amazing though
and i worship him as well - check out his TSRTS Stairway to heaven solo - Awesome!!

Between the two of them, Hendrix by a slim margin. But my pick is old slow hand, Eric Clapton as the best!

Oh, what a subjective question...............but, surely it should be based upon, a) how emotionally well they play b) how technically adept they are c) how good is their own material and d) how they interpret others material.............upon that basis, I would argue the following 10 and in no ranking order (too difficult) Rory Gallagher, Ritchie Blackmore (up to 1990), Steve Howe, Steve Morse, Roine Stolt, Steve Hackett, Trevor Rabin, Pete Townshend, Jimmy Page and Keith & Ronnie (they count as one)

Ok I cheated at the end
