Going in Crete in July would not be a good idea for you except if you were to avoid cities and only going out early in the morning and during the afternoon. Greece, in general, can be very hot during summer. It can easily get above 35 - 40 C. It's almost December and we still have "tasted" nothing of the autumn season, at least in Athens where I live...

The highest pick on Crete are those of Ida (Psiloritis), 2457 m and Lefka Ori with 53 tops higher than 2,000 m and the highest, Pachnes, 2454 m.
